What is the Big Hero, Little Hero Program?
Mission: To make sure every child has a Teddy Bear
to hug when he or she needs one the most.
The Vermont Teddy Bear Company launched the Big Hero, Little Hero
Program in September 2002 to make sure children across the country
have a Teddy Bear to hug when they need one the most.
Police, fire, and rescue personnel have found that Teddy Bears
provide welcomed on-site and in-transit comfort to children
involved in house fires, car crashes, and other traumatic events.
Unfortunately, budget constraints severely limit the ability of police,
fire, and rescue stations to carry sufficient Teddy Bear supplies
on their vehicles. With more than 11 million children being
transported for medical care each year by more than
75,000 emergency services, it is easy to see that there is an
ever-growing need for these special rescue Teddy Bears.
Funded by The Vermont Teddy Bear Company and outside
donations, the Big Hero, Little Hero Program was created
to more effectively meet this need. Through the program,
The Vermont Teddy Bear Company offers specially designed,
13" Teddy Bears to emergency service professionals around
the country free of charge.
