Working Goat Pen Fire- Powells Valley Road- Halifax Township
2/18/08- Tonight Box 29-1 was transmitted for a reported structure fire bringing Co 29 and Engine 216 (Fisherville). Chief 29-3 (Bisking) responded and was advised of multiple calls reporting a working goat pen on fire with animals entrapped. Chief 29-3 arrived within minutes and had  a 15x30 goat pen with heavy fire through the roof. The homeowner was able to save several of the animals, however many perished in the fire. Engine 29-1 arrived and pulled 2- class A foam lines and went to work extinguishing the fire. Tanker 29 supplied Engine 29-1 while the remainder of the apparatus staged and sent manpower up to assist. The building was a total loss. Units on scene: Co 29, E216, T216, U216, EMS 13.. Our thoughts go out to the family for their loss.
Brush Fire- Small Valley Road- Wayne Township
3/25/08- Around 1945 hours Box 19-3 was transmitted for a reported brush fire. Chief 29 (Stout) and 29-2 (W. Pottiger) arrived and found about 1/2 acre well involved. Units arrived and quickly knocked the fire. Crews used tank water and hand tools to extinguish and mop up the fire. Total involved area according to GPS readings conducted on the scene was .3 acres burned. Fire was accidental in nature. Chief 29 had command with E29, B29, T29, T19 on scene.
Brush Fire- Powells Valley Road- Halifax Township
4/19/08- At 1628 hours Box 29-1 was transmitted for a natural cover fire. Chief 29 (Stout) and Chief 29-1 (T. Pottiger)  were already in the area investigating the smoke in the area. Once access was determined Chief 29-1 took operations at the fire and Chief 29 took the command. Brush 29 was already on the street and arrived rather quickly. The fire was initially about 1-2 acres in size spreading quickly. Mutual aid was requested and crews went to work on extinguishment. The fire was declared under control in about 2 hours and crews remained on scene for about 3 hours. The total area burnt was 3.5 acres. Units from Co 29, 19, 20, 21, 216, 38, P2, P9, Halifax EMS were on the scene. Thank you to everyone who assisted and a special thanks to Co 38 for donating the left over spaghetti for the crews.
Canteen On The Building Fire- Susquehanna Township
6/15/08- At 2352 hours Canteen 29 was alerted to Box 32-1, 3914 Jonestown Road the Dollar Store to assist with rehab. The Canteen arrived and provided liquid refreshments and snacks to about 40 firefighters operating at the scene.
Busy Day for the 29 House

7/3/08- An UNUSUALLY busy day for the Halifax Fire Department.
0826 - Box 29-1 - Crews were dispatched to assist EMS on Konick Rd with a bicycle accident.                   Prior to response, the assignment was changed to establish a landing zone at the station. 
0848 - Box 29-1 - With EMS resources already taxed in the northern end of the county, a                  call was dispatched in the township for Chest Pains, a crew of three were assigned to the call.              As the crew from the Med Assist was returning to the station, the crew from the landing zone                 was sent to the scene of the bicycle accident to assist PSP with clean-up,
1007 - Box 29-1 - A unit from UDCES, returning from the hospital, cam upon an accident at the                top of Peters  Mountain for an accident with injuries involving 5 patients.  Upon the arrival of                 Chief 29-1 (T Pottiger) - R38 was requested for manpower due to the low-manpower on the                  previous calls.  The crews from E29-1 and R38 assisted EMS with patient packaging.  Crews                remained on scene until 1103 hrs.
1302 - Box 29-1 - PSP requested personnel to assist with searching for an 8 year old boy.  The               boy returned home from a freinds house shortly after the arrival of PSP. 
           Box in service at 1326 hrs.
1539 - Box 29-2 - Crews dispatched to assist Chief 29-2 (W Pottiger) with a vegetable oil spill in               the 1500 block of Armstrong Valley Rd.  A local businessman, returning from Maryland with a                1300 gallon tote of used cooking oil, experienced a catastrophic failure of one of the load                     binding straps.  The tote failed upon contact with the ground, spreading the material over the               roadway and berm of the road.  E29-1, E29, and U77 handled the spill containment and Fire                Police from 29, 216, and 21 controlled traffic during mitigation and clean-up. 
           Crews cleared at 2009 hrs.
MVA with Multiple Injuries- N River Road- Halifax Township
7/17/08- Around 0500 hours Box 29-4 was transmitted for a vehicle accident with injuries. Chief 29 (Stout) responded and was advised of a single vehicle off the road with a female bleeding from the head. Car 25 (J. Enders) arrived along with FF/EMT Waylon and Beth Leonard and found 4 class 1 trauma patients all out of the vehicle. Chief 29 arrived and requested aeromedical to fly 1 possibly 2 patients and requested Engine 20 (Millersburg) to assist. Rescue-Engine 29-1 arrived shortly later and started assessing and packaging patients. When Engine 20 arrived they also assisted EMS with patient care and hazard control on the vehicle. EMS units from Halifax, Millersburg, Upper Dauphin, and West Shore assisted on scene. All 4 patients were flown to Hershey Medical Center via 3 helicopters (1 from Hershey and 2 from Geisinger. See below). Great job by all on scene.
Canteen On House Fire- Stone Mill Road- South Hanover Township
7/18/08- About 1840 hours Canteen 29 was alerted to assist at the scene of a working house fire in South Hanover Township, Dauphin Co (Co 47 Union Deposit). Due to the extreme heat and humidity in the area command requested assistance with hydration of the working firefighters. Canteen 29 responded with a crew of 4 and assisted until released by providing drinks and snacks to about 50 firefighters from various Fire Departments in the area.
